Did you not get a new TIE for Father’s Day?

The newest addition to my LEGO TIE Fighter collection is Major Vonreg’s TIE Fighter (Lego #75240).  To note, at the writing of this blog, it was 20% off  on Amazon – we bought it a few weeks ago and paid full price, oh well.

So from what I can tell, my TIE Fighter collection (minifig scale) now stands at 11. I like TIE fighters – let’s face it, the Empire generally has cooler hardware and definitely more menacing.  Anyway, I have no idea who Major Vonreg is and haven’t looked – trying to avoid opening the spoiler jar this far ahead of the Rise of Skywalker.

So how does this one rank in the long, proud history of LEGO TIE Fighters? Not bad.

On the menacing scale, it scores about about an 8.5 out of 10. The build even hints at the angst in the set with the minifigs in bags #1 and #2.

It falls under the category of TIE Interceptor type fighter with the inward curving wings and angled forward wings. The decidedly red color scheme lends itself to the Kylo-Ren period in the Star Wars Galaxy. As an advanced set for the Rise of Skywalker, I am pretty sure this is the vessel swooping in to attack Rey in the preview.

The second advanced TIE type set we’ve seen for the Rise of Skywalker is the Black Ace TIE Fighter which is a Resistance vessel, unusual in the TIE Series (except for Yoda Fighter, which I am not certain is a Resistance vessel or a modified earlier variant from the Clone years – more importantly, to this blog entry, it doesn’t really matter.)

In conclusion, the fine Major’s TIE is a well designed ship that comes with 3 minifigs and an R type droid with a cool starfighter’s helmet – Major Vonreg, General Leia, Kaz Xiono, ad Bucket (R1-J5). It’s a good addition to the collection, particularly at its current sale of 20% off at Amazon.
