#TBT with a Classic Space favorite

It’s #TBT time again. Staying in Space where we have been for the past several Thursdays, today’s Brick Blog is brought to you by the set 6842-1, the LEGO Small Space Shuttle Craft  from 1981. Thiis is set I specifically remember from my childhood… a very high level of play-ability.

I have always loved the compact design, the jets below and the large black cone engine on the rear. As you are probably well aware, no self respecting Classic Space ship can go without part #3839a, better known as Black Plate, Modified 1×2 with Handles, and even better known as the laser guns on the front of the ship. So the little ship has a high level of PEW-PEW-PEW too.

The Red Spaceman pilot’s outfit contrasts nicely with the black/white/light gray design. Of course in 1981, we only had Red or White Spacemen.

There’s not much else to say about it. The set only had 41 parts. Bricklink shows there are about 75 currently for sale on average $14.52 USD. If you have a Space collection, I would highly recommend this set being part of that collection, if for no other reason but for the joy, creativity and hours of play this little set brought to a kid 37 years ago.
